This Homemade Cream of Chicken Soup Recipe is probably one of the most versatile and easy recipes out there. It’s great for use in casseroles, adding to soups, or making chicken stew. If you don’t have a can handy, this recipe is super simple. Plus, you know exactly what is going into your body!
I also love how I can substitute my Cream of Chicken Soup Recipe for any recipe that calls for cream of mushroom or cream of celery soup. An equal substitution will keep the same texture as cream of celery or cream of mushroom soup. You can use it in casseroles or soups.
One of the recipes I’ve substituted a can of cream of chicken soup for my homemade version is one of my family’s favorite, Easy Lemon Chicken Piccata Casserole.
There have often been times when my cans have run low, and I need to make a quick fix, and this is just it.

Can Homemade Condensed Cream of Chicken Soup Be Frozen?
It’s good to know that cream of chicken soup can be frozen. To freeze cream of chicken soup, make sure it’s in an airtight container. I like to have my soup measured out in 1 1/2 cups portions and freeze in Ziploc freezer bags. Creamed soups can separate when thawed, but it shouldn’t be a problem if you mix it well while reheating.
