Do you ever have some leftover grilled chicken that needs a fresh sauce or salsa? This homemade mango salsa is a simple, delicious, and perfect choice for topping almost any chicken or fish dish. Mango is a great antioxidant-rich fruit that pairs beautifully with savory dishes to give you a hint of sweetness that helps mellow flavors.
Much like our favorite pineapple salsa recipe, this homemade mango salsa is seriously versatile in your menu plan. It works great as a simple dip with some toasted corn tortilla chips for a simple side dish. It’s also ideal to go over the top of grilled chicken or fish, but my favorite way to serve this mango salsa is inside a whole wheat wrap with grilled chicken, lettuce, and tomato. It gives just the right flavors to brighten the wrap without being heavy like a mayonnaise-based sauce would be.
Mango is usually in season during the late spring and early summer months, but you can easily find frozen mango chunks in your freezer section at the grocery store year-round. Fresh is always best, but a thawed frozen mango is a great substitute in this delicious homemade mango salsa.
Get creative with your dishes by adding this homemade mango salsa on top of lean meats, salads, and on the side as a sweet and savory dip, everyone will enjoy.
